On this day, November 17, 1984, Wham! scored their first #1 hit in the U.S. with the infectious pop anthem “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.” The song dominated the charts for three weeks in America and also reached #1 in the UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Australia, and Iceland. With its upbeat rhythm and iconic music video, “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” became one of the most memorable pop songs of the 80s.
