On this day, November 29, 1988, TV 101 premiered on CBS. The series followed a former photojournalist turned high school teacher who inspires his students to produce a television news program as part of their curriculum.

The show featured young stars Matt LeBlanc (before his Friends fame) and Stacey Dash. Despite its unique premise and talented cast, TV 101 struggled with ratings and controversy over its mature themes, leading to its cancellation after just one season and 17 episodes.
