On this day, October 21, 1983, The Right Stuff premiered in theaters across the U.S. Starring Ed Harris, Scott Glenn, Sam Shepard, Fred Ward, Dennis Quaid, and Barbara Hershey, this epic film told the story of the early days of the U.S. space program and the brave test pilots who became America’s first astronauts. Based on Tom Wolfe’s book, The Right Stuff was critically acclaimed for its performances and its portrayal of the space race.
