Are you a master at Super Mario Bros.? Think you can challenge SMB2j? This game makes the first Mario look easy. More challenging levels, more obstacles, poisonous mushrooms, and crazier enemies. Built in world and stage select keep you from breaking your controllers (use A and B on the title screen). Unlike the other mapper hacked ROMs out on the internet, this is the complete game on a custom board. Mario and Luigi have different physics so they play differently. The wind works in every level it appears, so this game is tough. The game starts with all 8 stars so you can play the levels beyond 8-4. Still think you can master any NES Mario game? If so, buy this today, you won't be sorry.

I never played this Super Mario Bros 2J. Supposedly it supposed to be a lot more difficult. Has anyone played this?
 
Super Bros The Lost Levels is a very difficult game. The games difficulty level is nothing like Super Mario Bros 2. The game is similar to its predecessor in style and gameplay, with players controlling Mario or Luigi to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser. The Lost Levelsadds a greater level of difficulty and Luigi controls slightly differently from Mario, with reduced ground friction and increased jump height. The Lost Levels also introduces obstacles such as poison mushroom power-ups, counterproductive level warps, and mid-air wind gusts. The game has 32 levels across eight worlds and 20 bonus levels.

Reviewers viewed Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels as an extension of the previous game, especially its difficulty progression. Journalists appreciated the game's challenge when spectating speedruns and recognized the game as a precursor to the franchise's Kaizo subculture in which fans create and share ROM hacks featuring nearly impossible levels. This sequel gave Luigi his first character traits and introduced the poison mushroom item, which has since been used throughout the Mario franchise. The Lost Levels was the most popular game on the Disk System, for which it sold about 2.5 million copies. It is remembered among the most difficult Nintendo games.
