On this day September 13, 1986, The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW) made its debut, becoming one of the most unique and colorful shows of the 80s. GLOW brought a mix of professional wrestling and over-the-top characters to TV screens across America. With its outrageous personas, sketch comedy, and wrestling matches, the show quickly gained a cult following.

The series ran for 4 seasons with a total of 104 episodes, introducing the world to a cast of vibrant female wrestlers who each embodied unique characters, from “Mt. Fiji” to “Hollywood” and “Vine.” GLOW helped pave the way for women in wrestling, making it a trailblazing series that inspired future generations of female wrestlers.

Fun Fact!

In 2017, Netflix produced a fictionalized series, GLOW, based on the real-life wrestling show, bringing renewed interest to the original and introducing the story to a new audience.
