On this day April 20, 1981, British heavy metal band Girlschool released their second studio album Hit and Run. Known for their raw energy and gritty sound, the all female group was part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and often toured alongside Motörhead.

Girlschool never got the credit they deserved. Hit and Run was such a strong album. They had that raw sound that matched what a lot of the guys were doing at the time but with their own edge. Girl power! Hit and Run still gets stuck in my head. I used to play it on cassette while cleaning my room just to make it feel like less of a chore.
 
It’s a good album and a good song.
