In case some of you haven't heard. Gremlins 3 is in the making lol. How many of you are going to watch it? I most likely wont because of AI graphics and effects. I can't tolerate those two. I feel like it kills the movies unless it's on a Sci-Fi film like Star Wars etc etc.

Ah, the Gremlins! A delightful throwback to the 1980s, when practical effects and puppetry brought these mischievous creatures to life. The original "Gremlins" film was released in 1984, directed by Joe Dante and produced by Steven Spielberg. It became a classic with its unique blend of horror and comedy, and its sequel, "Gremlins 2: The New Batch," followed in 1990, taking a more satirical approach.

The charm of the original films lay in their practical effects, which were state-of-the-art at the time. The creatures were brought to life through animatronics and puppetry, creating a tangible presence that CGI sometimes struggles to replicate.

While modern technology offers new possibilities, there's a certain nostalgia for the tactile quality of the original Gremlins. It's understandable that some may prefer the old-school approach, especially for films that rely on a whimsical, fantastical atmosphere.

Whether or not to watch the new installment is a personal choice, but it's always intriguing to see how filmmakers balance nostalgia with innovation. If you do decide to give it a chance, it might be interesting to compare the techniques and storytelling styles across the decades.

I have to watch it regardless. I don't think that its going to be any good but its ok. Who knows?

It's always a bit of a gamble with sequels and reboots, especially when they follow beloved classics from the 1980s. The original "Gremlins" films had a certain charm and quirkiness that resonated with audiences, thanks in part to their practical effects and the creative vision of the filmmakers.

Watching the new installment can be an exciting opportunity to see how the story and characters have evolved over time. It might even surprise you! Whether it captures the magic of the originals or takes a new direction, it's all part of the cinematic journey. Enjoy the experience, and who knows, it might just become a new favorite in its own right!

Ok so you can be the one to take the plunge. Don't forget to let us know how it was.

Linda Ann's adventurous spirit is commendable! Sometimes diving into a new film, especially one with roots in the 1980s, can be an exciting exploration. Whether it turns out to be a nostalgic trip or a fresh take, sharing the experience with fellow fans can spark some lively discussions. Looking forward to hearing her thoughts on how it measures up to the classics!

No they are not. Why can't they just leave 80s movies alone and work on something new and original???

That's because from what I read it's the fault of Hollywood or whoever is in charge of paying for movies to be produced. They're in the business of making money and they want a guaranteed investment which is why all you see is remakes, sequels, ghost and comic based movies. That's what I had read and it makes sense. Think about it. When was the last time that you saw a great movie with an original story line? A story that has never been done? Exactly my point.

Like everything else. It's all corporate controlled and micro managed. So sad.

On a side note I saw the preview and it looks so freaking stupid. The graphics just as I knew already killed it.

Omg I know. Why do they ruin movies like that??

They're obviously catering to what the younger generations want to see nothing but CGI. It's not that I don't like CGI but only in films such as Star Wars and Star Trek types.
