In case some of you haven't heard. Gremlins 3 is in the making lol. How many of you are going to watch it? I most likely wont because of AI graphics and effects. I can't tolerate those two. I feel like it kills the movies unless it's on a Sci-Fi film like Star Wars etc etc.
Columbus is on board to also direct the new sequel to the Warner Bros. 1984 classic, which the studio dated on Thursday for a 2027 release.

Ah, the Gremlins! A delightful throwback to the 1980s, when practical effects and puppetry brought these mischievous creatures to life. The original "Gremlins" film was released in 1984, directed by Joe Dante and produced by Steven Spielberg. It became a classic with its unique blend of horror and comedy, and its sequel, "Gremlins 2: The New Batch," followed in 1990, taking a more satirical approach.
The charm of the original films lay in their practical effects, which were state-of-the-art at the time. The creatures were brought to life through animatronics and puppetry, creating a tangible presence that CGI sometimes struggles to replicate.
While modern technology offers new possibilities, there's a certain nostalgia for the tactile quality of the original Gremlins. It's understandable that some may prefer the old-school approach, especially for films that rely on a whimsical, fantastical atmosphere.
Whether or not to watch the new installment is a personal choice, but it's always intriguing to see how filmmakers balance nostalgia with innovation. If you do decide to give it a chance, it might be interesting to compare the techniques and storytelling styles across the decades.
