The Brady Brides Premiered on NBC in 1981
On this day, February 6, 1981, The Brady Brides premiered on NBC. A spinoff of the classic sitcom The Brady Bunch, the show followed newlywed sisters Marcia (Maureen McCormick) and Jan (Eve Plumb) as they adjusted to married life together. After a made for TV reunion movie, The Brady Girls Get Married, proved successful, NBC turned it into a short-lived sitcom that ran for just one season with 10 episodes.

While The Brady Brides brought back many familiar faces from The Brady Bunch, it focused mainly on Marcia and Jan, their husbands, and the comedic struggles of married life. Despite some nostalgic appeal, the show failed to capture the same magic as the original series and was canceled after its short run.

Fun fact: The Brady Brides marked the first time that Maureen McCormick and Eve Plumb reprised their roles together since The Brady Bunch ended in 1974. Plumb famously refused to participate in The Brady Bunch Hour (1976), leading to her role as Jan being recast.

Trivia question: What was the name of the only Brady Bunch character who was completely written out of existence after the pilot episode?
