On May 3, 1987, the sitcom Mr. President premiered on the newly launched Fox network. Created by Johnny Carson, the series starred George C. Scott as the President of the United States, offering a comedic take on the challenges of balancing family life with the duties of the Oval Office.

The cast also included Conrad Bain and added a familiar face for viewers who knew him from Diff’rent Strokes. Mr. President ran for two seasons with a total of 24 episodes before being canceled.

Fun fact: Mr. President was one of the first original shows to air on Fox and was part of the network’s early push to compete with the big three broadcast networks.
