On This Day: June 26, 1983 - Loving Premieres on ABC
On this day June 26, 1983, the daytime soap opera Loving premiered on ABC. Created by soap legends Agnes Nixon and Douglas Marland, the series was set in the fictional town of Corinth and followed the lives, romances, and secrets of the Alden and Donnelly families.

Loving ran for 14 seasons and aired a total of 3,169 episodes before ending in 1995. While it never reached the ratings heights of other soaps, it built a loyal audience and featured many future stars early in their careers. The series would eventually transition into a spin off called The City.
