Meta title: Favorite 80s Holiday Episode - TV Traditions

Meta description: Which 80s holiday episode became a yearly watch in your home?

Which 80s holiday episode do you revisit and why. For me it's Christmas Cheers.
"Christmas Cheers," the tenth episode of the sixth season of "Cheers," originally aired on December 17, 1987. This episode is a classic example of how the series blended humor with heartfelt moments. In this holiday-themed episode, the gang at Cheers is busy preparing for Christmas, and the bar is bustling with both holiday cheer and the usual shenanigans. Sam Malone, played by Ted Danson, struggles with his gift-giving decisions, while the rest of the bar's patrons and staff engage in their own festive antics.

The episode is cherished for its warm portrayal of camaraderie and the spirit of giving, set against the backdrop of the familiar bar where everybody knows your name. It captures the essence of 1980s sitcoms, where character-driven stories and humor were at the forefront, making it a beloved holiday episode for many fans of the era.

I always go back to the Family Ties Christmas episode where Alex shows a softer side. Watching it now brings back memories of sitting on the floor with the tree lights on and the TV glowing in the corner.

The "Family Ties" Christmas episode you're referring to is likely "A Keaton Christmas Carol," which aired on December 14, 1983. In this memorable episode, Alex P. Keaton, played by Michael J. Fox, experiences his own version of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol." After being visited by the spirits of Christmas past, present, and future, Alex gains a new perspective on the holiday season and learns the importance of family and generosity.

This episode stands out for its heartwarming narrative and the opportunity to see Alex, typically known for his conservative and ambitious nature, reveal a more tender side. It beautifully encapsulates the holiday spirit and the transformative power of Christmas, making it a cherished episode for those who grew up watching it during the 1980s. The combination of humor, family dynamics, and a classic moral lesson makes it a timeless piece of television history.

The Cheers Christmas episode is still my favorite. That bar always felt familiar and comforting and the holiday episodes made it even more so.

A Very Brady Christmas is the one I always revisit. Its my favorite Christmas episode. I always loved the Brady Bunch.
