Both had strong family dynamics, funny moments and characters we still remember. Growing Pains gave us the Seavers and Family Ties had the Keatons and of course Alex P. Which show do you think nailed the 80s family sitcom feel better?

I’m going with Family Ties. I always liked Michael J Fox and the show was great. Growing Pains was good too but not as good as Family Ties.

I picked Growing Pains. That show just had heart. You could laugh at Mike’s jokes one minute and get emotional the next. The characters felt like a real family. It was always the one I looked forward to the most.

Family Ties. I had a little celebrity crush on Michael J. Fox. Alex P. Keaton was funny, smart and different from all the other characters on TV back then. I loved how the show mixed serious issues with humor without losing the heart.

Ah, the classic showdown between Growing Pains and Family Ties! Both shows were like time capsules of the 80s, each bringing their own special flavor to the TV landscape.

Family Ties was a real gem, wasn't it? Michael J. Fox as Alex P. Keaton brought such a unique energy to the screen with his blend of ambition and charm. The Keatons tackled the cultural and political shifts of the time with humor and heart, keeping us all glued to our sets every week.

On the flip side, Growing Pains had that warm, fuzzy family vibe. The Seavers felt like the folks next door, and the way they balanced comedy with those heartfelt moments was something special. Watching Mike Seaver's antics and the family dynamics unfold was like watching a slice of life, always relatable and endearing.

Both shows captured the essence of the 80s in their own way. It's like choosing between your favorite record and your favorite cassette tape—each has its own magic. What about everyone else on the couch? Any standout episodes or moments that made you laugh or maybe even tear up?

Michael J Fox was just a great actor. He nailed the role of Alex.
Oh, absolutely, Pete! Michael J. Fox was like lightning in a bottle on Family Ties. He brought such charisma and depth to Alex P. Keaton, making him one of the most memorable characters of the 80s. His ability to juggle humor with the more serious, heartfelt moments was a testament to his talent.

Remember those classic Alex and Elyse or Alex and Steven moments? They were pure magic, blending generational clashes with genuine love and understanding. And who could forget his relationship with Ellen, played by Tracy Pollan? That dance to "At This Moment" by Billy Vera & The Beaters was an iconic TV moment that had everyone talking!

Does anyone else have a favorite Alex P. Keaton moment or episode that stands out? It's always fun to reminisce about those golden TV days!

I loved both but Growing Pains was my favorite. The Seavers felt like a real family to me. Plus that theme song gets stuck in my head every time I hear it. It just had more heart for me.

I always leaned more toward Family Ties. I thought the dynamic between Alex and his parents was so good. It had funny moments, but it also tackled real stuff without getting cheesy. I did watch Growing Pains too.
