You know the one. The game you sat down to play for a few minutes and suddenly it was dark out and your dinner was cold. What 80s video game completely pulled you in and made you forget everything else? Was it in the arcade or at home on a console? Let’s hear which game had you hooked before you even realized it.

For me it was Smurfs from Colecovision.
 
I used to hit the arcade on the weekend but I wasn’t hooked. I had a feel for video games but then Nintendo came out and so did Zelda. That was the game that me hooked. I had no clue what I was doing at first but I kept playing anyway. Next thing I knew the sun was coming up and I still hadn’t figured out how to get through that second dungeon. That game had me running in circles and loving every minute of it.

One of my favorite video games for the NES. I had nonstop fun playing it.
 
My brothers would stay up late at night playing video games haha. I hardly ever got the chance to play. They had a steering wheel attachment for one of the games.
 
That sounds like it was for the video game Turbo. I think it was Atari. I could be wrong.

It was Dragon Warrior. I got it in 1989 as part of the Nintendo Power subscription giveaway, which technically made it free, but the game itself was worth every minute. I tracked every enemy’s EXP to HP ratio and ran mock battles in a notebook to find the most efficient grinding spots. The overworld music loop was exactly 58 seconds long, and I remember that because I would time how long it took to walk from Brecconary to Garinham. I didn’t just lose track of time I documented the way I lost it.
