Some lines from 80s television shows were more than just scripted dialogue. They became part of everyday conversation. Whether it was a sassy comeback, a quirky exclamation or something a character said in every single episode, chances are one of these catchphrases is still burned into your memory.

Think about it:
  • Whatchu talkin bout Willis
  • I pity the fool
  • Sit on it
  • You got it dude
  • Kiss my grits
  • Book em Danno
  • Dont be ridiculous
  • Nanoo nanoo

I sometimes joke around and use some of these phrases like, Whatchu talkin bout Willis, I pity the fool and yes even Nanoo nanoo lol. Do you use any ?

Oh this is such a fun topic. I still say dont be ridiculous just like Balki did on Perfect Strangers. My sister and I used to crack up every time he said it with that accent. I also catch myself saying you got it dude sometimes without even thinking about it. Full House was a little later in the decade but I watched it religiously. Some of these lines really stuck with us.

I still say kiss my grits every now and then. Alice was such a fun show and Flo’s delivery always cracked me up. My friends and I would say it to each other in school like we thought we were so clever. God we were so cheesy lol.

No not at all.

I don’t believe you MagicMan. If you watch tv you’ll almost always use a line at least one.

How about I don’t think I ever did.

C’mon you know that you used to walk around high school hallways yelling nanoo nanoo. I could picture you doing that.

Oh absolutely! I still drop Whatchu talkin bout Willis when someone says something crazy. It never gets old and kiss my grits was a favorite of mine growing up. Flo had so much sass I wanted to be her when I was little! I even caught myself saying Sit on it the other day without realizing it. These lines were like part of our childhood vocabulary. Shows today just don’t have that same magic.

I drop my own lines marriane.

I remember using Bart Simpson’s line Don’t have a cow. I’m pretty sure that I used some others too but this is the only one that stuck with me.

Ha I remember that! It was very popular. That line was printed on t-shirts too.

I had a Don’t Have a Cow shirt too but it was a gift for Christmas. I never wore it.
