On this day August 21, 1987, Born in East L.A., starring Cheech Marin, hit theaters, bringing a unique blend of comedy and cultural commentary to the big screen. But here’s an interesting tidbit: Did you know that Tommy Chong, Cheech’s longtime comedy partner, turned down a cameo role in the film? He was reportedly upset that Cheech was doing a solo project without him. Despite this, the movie became a hit and remains a classic in its genre.
