On this day, November 21, 1980, The Apple premiered in theaters. Directed by Menahem Golan, this futuristic rock musical starred Catherine Mary Stewart, Allan Love, Grace Kennedy, and Joss Ackland. Set in the year 1994, the film followed a tale of music, fame, and rebellion in a dystopian society controlled by a powerful record company.

With a $10 million budget, The Apple aimed to capture the spirit of a musical revolution but was met with critical and commercial disappointment. Over the years, however, it has gained a cult following for its campy charm and over-the-top musical numbers.

Have you seen The Apple? Do you think it deserves its cult status, or was it a misstep from the start?
