On this day, November 22, 1985, Starchaser: The Legend of Orin premiered in theaters. Directed by Steve Hahn, this animated sci-fi adventure blended traditional animation with early 3D techniques, creating a visually unique film for its time.

With a $15 million budget, the movie aimed to deliver an epic tale of a young hero’s journey to liberate his people from tyranny. Despite its ambition, Starchaser only earned $3.3 million at the box office, but it has since gained a cult following for its innovative style and adventurous spirit.
