On this day, September 28, 1987, Star Trek: The Next Generation made its highly anticipated debut! The series, set in the 24th century, continued the legacy of the original Star Trek and introduced a new crew led by Captain Jean-Luc Picard, played by Patrick Stewart. The show ran for 7 seasons with a total of 178 episodes, becoming a fan-favorite and a key part of the Star Trek universe.
