On May 4 1984, "Sixteen Candles" made its debut in theaters, featuring Molly Ringwald, Michael Anthony-Hall, and Michael Schoeffling. It marked John Hughes' directorial debut. Interestingly, Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall initially didn't get along until Hughes discovered they shared a love for the same music during a trip to a record store. They even briefly dated after the movie and before filming "The Breakfast Club."
