On this day, October 23, 1981, Silence of the North, directed by Allan King, premiered in theaters. Starring Tom Skerritt, Gordon Pinsent, and Ellen Burstyn, the film is based on the true story of a woman’s survival in the harsh wilderness of northern Canada.
