Overview:
Possessed is the fourth album by the English heavy metal band Venom and the last before the departure of guitarist Jeffrey Dunn. At the time of its release, it had received mixed reviews, even from the critics who had liked Venom's earlier albums, and it was thought of as being in another league compared to these. This is ironic, since much of the material on Possessed was written before the release of At War with Satan. It was the first Venom album recorded outside of Impulse Studios, which might have changed the sound somewhat. The song "Possessed" is ranked No. 14 on the PMRC's "Filthy Fifteen", a list of the 15 songs the group found to be most objectionable.

The boy on the cover is the son of drummer Abaddon. The girl is the niece of producer Keith Nichol.
