On this day May 31, 1985, the comedy mystery film Fletch premiered in theaters. Directed by Michael Ritchie, the film starred Chevy Chase as investigative reporter Irwin M. Fletcher, a wisecracking journalist who goes undercover to expose corruption and crime. The cast also included Dana Wheeler-Nicholson, Geena Davis, George Wendt, and a cameo by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
