On this day May 29, 1981, the outrageous comedy film Polyester was released in theaters. Directed by John Waters, the film starred Divine, Tab Hunter, Edith Massey, and Mink Stole. Set in suburban Baltimore, it followed the chaotic life of Francine Fishpaw, a troubled housewife dealing with a cheating husband, a rebellious daughter, and a son with disturbing habits.
