On this day May 22 1981 Toyah released her third studio album Anthem which became a major breakthrough in her career and firmly established her as one of the most unique voices in the British new wave and post punk scenes. Fronted by Toyah Willcox the band delivered a mix of theatrical vocals layered synths and futuristic themes that connected with a growing alternative audience during the early 80s.
