On this day May 21, 1982, the comedy film Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid premiered in theaters starring Steve Martin and Rachel Ward. Directed by Carl Reiner, this inventive movie paid tribute to classic film noir by blending newly shot scenes with actual footage from 1940s and 1950s detective movies.
