On this day May 20, 1987, Beverly Hills Cop II premiered in theaters and became one of the biggest box office hits of the year. Directed by Tony Scott, the film brought back Eddie Murphy as the fast talking Detroit detective Axel Foley. He reunited with Judge Reinhold and Ronny Cox while John Ashton returned as the tough but lovable Taggart.

Following the huge success of the original, the sequel leaned further into action while keeping its signature blend of comedy and detective thrills...
