On May 2, 1989, The Stone Roses released their self titled debut album, a landmark record that helped define the sound of British alternative rock at the end of the decade. Blending jangly guitars, psychedelic influences, and dance rhythms, the album became a cornerstone of the Madchester movement.

The album reached number 86 on the US Billboard charts and was much more successful in the UK where it eventually gained classic status. Songs like I Wanna Be Adored and She Bangs the Drums...
