On this day May 14, 1988, tragedy struck in Carrollton, Kentucky when a drunk driver traveling the wrong way on Interstate 71 collided head on with a school bus carrying a church youth group. The crash resulted in the deaths of 27 people, most of them teenagers, and injured dozens more. It remains one of the deadliest drunk driving incidents in American history.
