On this day March 20 1987 the fantasy sitcom The Charmings premiered on ABC. The show put a modern twist on classic fairy tales by following Prince Charming Snow White and their children as they try to adjust to life in 1980s suburban America after waking from a centuries-long enchanted sleep.

Despite its unique premise The Charmings struggled with ratings and only lasted two seasons with 21 episodes. The show underwent cast changes and format tweaks but never found a large enough audience...
