On this day March 15 1986 Sara by Starship hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 where it stayed for the week of March 15 to 21. The song also topped the charts in Canada becoming one of the band's biggest hits of the 80s.

Sara was the second single from Starship’s album Knee Deep in the Hoopla and followed the success of We Built This City. The song’s emotional lyrics and powerful vocal performance by Mickey Thomas made it a fan favorite and one of the band’s signature ballads.
