On this day June 3, 1982, Israeli Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Shlomo Argov, was shot in the head outside a hotel in London. The attack left him critically wounded and permanently paralyzed. He survived the initial assault but remained in a coma for months and spent the rest of his life confined to a wheelchair, unable to speak.
