On this day June 26, 1981, Dragonslayer premiered in theaters. Directed by Matthew Robbins and starring Peter MacNicol, Ralph Richardson, John Hallam, and Caitlin Clarke, the film brought a darker and more realistic tone to the fantasy genre. It told the story of a young sorcerer’s apprentice sent to defeat a fearsome dragon terrorizing a medieval kingdom.
