On this day June 19, 1984, Glenn Frey released his second solo album The Allnighter. Coming off his success with The Eagles and his 1982 debut, Frey leaned further into smooth rock and late night moods with this release.

The album featured tracks like Smuggler’s Blues and The Heat Is On, the latter becoming a major hit thanks to its inclusion in the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack. While the album peaked at number 22 on the Billboard charts, its radio-friendly sound made Frey a staple of 80s...
