On this day June 1, 1984, the action rock musical Streets of Fire premiered in theaters. Directed by Walter Hill, the film starred Michael Paré, Diane Lane, E.G. Daily, Rick Moranis, Amy Madigan, Willem Dafoe, Deborah Van Valkenburgh, Richard Lawson, Rick Rossovich, and Bill Paxton. Set in a stylized urban landscape, the story followed a mercenary on a mission to rescue a kidnapped rock singer from a violent gang.
