On this day July 6, 1983, Class premiered in theaters and introduced audiences to a new generation of young actors through a story that mixed romantic drama with prep school tension. Directed by Lewis John Carlino, the film starred Rob Lowe as a wealthy boarding school student whose best friend, played by Andrew McCarthy in his film debut, unknowingly begins an affair with Lowe’s mother, portrayed by Jacqueline Bisset.
