On this day July 26 1985, John Waite released Mask of Smiles, the follow up to his successful solo debut No Brakes. After topping the charts with Missing You the previous year, Waite returned with an album that continued his blend of melodic rock, heartfelt songwriting, and unmistakable vocals. While it had the challenge of following a massive hit, the album proved Waite was much more than a one song success.
