On this day August 29 1988, the World Wrestling Federation held the very first SummerSlam event at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Created as the WWF’s summer answer to WrestleMania, the pay per view brought together some of the biggest names in professional wrestling and delivered a packed card filled with energy, drama, and spectacle.
