On this day April 27 1984, the romantic drama Love Letters premiered in theaters. Directed by Amy Holden Jones, the film starred Jamie Lee Curtis, Bonnie Bartlett, and James Keach.

Love Letters told the story of a young woman who, after discovering her late mother’s secret affair through old letters, embarks on a passionate and complicated affair of her own. It was a smaller, more intimate film for Jamie Lee Curtis who was mostly known for horror roles at the time.
