On this day April 22, 1989, the short lived action drama Jesse Hawkes premiered on CBS. The show starred Gerald McRaney as the title character, a rugged survivalist and former government tracker who uses his outdoor skills to help his sons bring criminals to justice in the urban jungle of San Francisco.

Jesse Hawkes was a spin off from High Mountain Rangers, with McRaney reprising his role alongside real life brothers Ben and Matt McRaney, who played his sons. The show combined crime...
