On this day, November 19, 1984, The Kinks released their 20th studio album, Word of Mouth. Packed with the energy and wit fans had come to expect, the album featured standout tracks like “Do It Again” and “Living on a Thin Line.”

Though Word of Mouth didn’t achieve massive commercial success, it remains a fan favorite and a testament to The Kinks’ staying power as one of rock’s most enduring bands. The album reflected a mature, introspective sound while still retaining the band’s signature edge.
