Miami Vice Review: The Ultimate 80s TV Experience

Here’s my review on this iconic 80s show. Miami Vice is more than just a TV show, it's the ultimate representation of 80s pop culture. With its neon lit streets, sleek Ferraris, stylish pastel suits, and one of the best soundtracks in television history. This iconic show defined an era. Although I didn’t start watching Miami Vice until a few years ago I quickly became hooked on its music, fashion and overall nostalgia. I was a kid during the 80s and I wasn’t into police type shows.

Premiering in 1984, Miami Vice followed Detectives Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson) and Ricardo Tubbs (Philip Michael Thomas) as they navigated the dangerous world of drug cartels and organized crime in Miami. Unlike other police dramas of the time Miami Vice had a stylish, cinematic feel, with action-packed storylines, stunning visuals and a heavy influence from the MTV generation. And I mean heavy.

One of the things I love most about Miami Vice is how it perfectly captures the 1980s aesthetic. From the bright neon lights of Miami’s nightlife to the sleek designer suits and sunglasses. Everything about the show screams pure 80s fashion and style.

Even though I started watching Miami Vice only a few years ago, it still feels fresh and exciting. The mix of crime drama, stylish visuals, and an incredible 80s soundtrack makes it one of the most rewatchable shows from that decade. If you love 80s nostalgia, classic TV, or action-packed crime stories, Miami Vice is a must-watch.

Are you a fan of Miami Vice? What’s your favorite episode or song featured in the series? Let’s talk about it!

I loved watching Miami Vice because it always reminds me of my dad. My favorite part about Miami Vice was Crockett's song.

It's a good song. I have it on my 80s playlist.

Miami Vice was the ultimate 80s TV aesthetic. It was like the thumbnail for 80s television with its neon lights, fast cars, and fashion. I love watching it, and beyond the action and iconic characters, the music was incredible. It had some of the best songs of the decade!
