May 18, 1980 - Ian Curtis of Joy Division Tragically Passed Away at Age 23.

On this day May 18, 1980, Ian Curtis, the lead singer and lyricist of Joy Division, took his own life at the age of 23. Curtis was found in his Macclesfield home in England, having died by suicide just one day before Joy Division was scheduled to leave for their first ever United States tour.
