On this day, January 25, 1985, Phil Collins released his third studio album, No Jacket Required. The album was a massive success, showcasing Collins’ evolution as a solo artist and cementing his place as one of the biggest names in 80s pop and rock.

No Jacket Required featured hit singles like Sussudio, One More Night, Don’t Lose My Number, and Take Me Home. The album topped the charts worldwide, including the US and UK, and won three Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year. It remains one of Collins’ most iconic works, selling over 25 million copies globally.

Fun Fact: The title No Jacket Required was inspired by an incident at a Chicago restaurant where Collins was denied entry because he wasn’t wearing a jacket.
