On this day, January 19, 1988, Billy Ocean released his seventh studio album, Tear Down These Walls. This album marked another milestone in Ocean’s career, blending his smooth vocals with a mix of pop, R&B, and soulful ballads that captivated audiences worldwide.

The album featured the smash hit Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car, which topped the Billboard Hot 100 and became one of Ocean’s signature songs. Other notable tracks included The Colour of Love and the title track Tear Down These Walls, which further showcased his range and versatility as an artist.

Fun Fact: Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car was inspired by a line from Ringo Starr’s song You’re Sixteen, and the phrase was reimagined to become a chart-topping hit for Billy Ocean.
