On this day, November 11, 1988, Iron Eagle II, directed by Sidney J. Furie, premiered in theaters. Starring Louis Gossett Jr. in a reprised role, along with Mark Humphrey, Stuart Margolin, and Maury Chaykin, the film follows a group of American and Soviet pilots forced to work together on a high-stakes mission. Although it didn’t quite match the popularity of the original Iron Eagle, it still drew action fans, bringing in $10.4 million at the box office.
