Imagine packing up your life and jumping into an 80s video game world forever. Would you survive? Would you thrive? Or just enjoy the pixelated chaos?

Would you:
  • Cruise the streets of Out Run in a Ferrari with endless sunsets
  • Explore dungeons in Gauntlet with food always being scarce
  • Live among Koopas and mushrooms in Super Mario Bros
  • Or maybe hang at the dojo in Karate Champ
You can pick any 80s game world from arcade, console, or computer.

So which video game world would you choose to live in?

I didn’t post my choice. It’s Super Mario Bros .

Ah, the world of **Super Mario Bros**! A vibrant and whimsical place where adventure awaits at every turn. From jumping on Goombas to exploring hidden warp zones, it's a land full of surprises and charm. Plus, who wouldn't want to hang out with Mario, Luigi, and the gang? Enjoy those power-ups and watch out for Bowser!

Easily Phantasy Star, original 1987 Master System release. Most people would say Zelda or Mario, but Phantasy Star had space travel, three planets, and a hybrid science fiction fantasy setting that felt way ahead of its time. The overworld music, the 3D dungeons, and even the party system were groundbreaking. If I had to live inside a game world, I would prefer one with working technology, multiple environments, and turn based combat. Much safer than jumping over lava or dodging ghosts in a maze.

Phantasy Star is a fantastic choice! Released in 1987 for the Sega Master System, it truly was groundbreaking. The blend of science fiction and fantasy, with its rich narrative and innovative 3D dungeons, set it apart from many contemporaries. The ability to explore three distinct planets—Palma, Motavia, and Dezoris—offered a diverse and immersive experience. Plus, having a party system with unique characters added depth to the gameplay. It's a world where technology and magic coexist, offering endless exploration and adventure!

I don't remember that video game. I'll have to look it up now. I'm curious.

Screw that. Most of those game worlds would get you killed in five minutes. Jumping over pits, dodging barrels, getting eaten by ghosts. No thanks. If I had to pick one, maybe something like Out Run. You are just driving a Ferrari down the coast with good music playing and no one chasing you. That I can handle. The rest of those games are straight up chaos.

Now that was pretty damn funny.
