On this day, December 15, 1982, Clint Eastwood’s Honkytonk Man premiered in theaters. Directed by and starring Eastwood, the film also featured his son Kyle Eastwood in a heartfelt story about a Depression-era musician chasing his dream of performing at the Grand Ole Opry.

Set against the backdrop of the Dust Bowl, the film captures the struggles and aspirations of Red Stovall (Clint Eastwood), a down-on-his-luck country singer with a dream, accompanied by his nephew (Kyle Eastwood).
