On this day, February 2, 1985, Foreigner’s power ballad I Want to Know What Love Is hit #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100, where it stayed for two weeks (February 2 - 15). This emotional anthem became one of the biggest hits of the 80s, topping charts worldwide, including in the UK, Canada, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Poland, and Israel.

Featured on their album Agent Provocateur, the song’s powerful lyrics and gospel-influenced backing vocals (provided by the New Jersey Mass Choir) gave it an unforgettable emotional depth.
