On this day, December 7, 1984, the action-comedy City Heat premiered in theaters. Directed by Richard Benjamin, the film brought together two Hollywood heavyweights, Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds, in a 1930s-set story about a cop and a private detective teaming up to solve a murder case.

The film also featured Richard Roundtree and Irene Cara in supporting roles, adding to its star power. With a budget of $25 million, City Heat grossed $38.3 million at the box office, delivering plenty of humor, action, and nostalgic noir vibes.
